Jockey's Ridge State Park
The 31st Annual Rogallo Kite Festival will take place June 8th-9th on the Outer Banks. The festival will be held on Jockey's Ridge Crossing and is FREE TO THE PUBLIC. The Rogallo Kite Festival includes two days of kite flying to honor Francis Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. His inventions started the sport of hang gliding and his designs have carried over into the stunt kites, power kites and hang gliders that are flown today. In honor of Francis Rogallo and all of his accomplishments, Kitty Hawk Kites will put his ideas on display through flight! Come out and see large kite displays, learn to fly various kites, kitemaking, and more fun activites!

This is an Outer Banks Relief Foundation Charity Event , and is one of the many fundraisers held by the Foundation as it fills its mission to serve our community whose mission is simple: to financially assist those in our community who are faced with debilitating illness or tragedy. Net funds will be expended to help those on the Outer Banks.

Come take flight with the Wright Brothers National Memorial and Kitty Hawk Kites at the Wright Kite Festival in Kill Devil Hills, NC July 20th-July 21st! Walk through the museum and gain knowledge of the birthplace of aviation and then put this knowledge to the test outside with Kitty Hawk Kites. Large kites will be on display throughout the weekend, joining in the sky with the Wright Memorial! Learn how to fly stunt and power kites from the experts while watching their displays right beside you. Families and Individuals are encouraged to bring out their own kites and participate in the event. Kitty Hawk Kites will be offering FREE kite making at the museum each day. The Kitty Hawk Kites Wright Flight Festival is FREE TO THE PUBLIC, although entrance into the park is $4.00. Admission costs help benefit the National Park Service. Children 16 years old or younger receive FREE ADMISSION to the park.

Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station Historic Site
Actual members of the Coast Guard crew that made the now-nationally-famous rescue of the HMS Bounty off of Cape Hatteras during Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29, 2012 will present a very rare program this summer at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum.
Personnel from the US Coast Guard Station in Elizabeth City will do this program at 2:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month for June, July and August. Hear first hand the details of this amazing event. Photo ops and souvenirs available. This will be a part of Chicamacomico's Summer Porch Program.
The replica Bounty ship was built for the 1960 MGM movie "Mutiny on the Bounty" starring Marlin Brando. Kitty Hawk Kites
On Thursday, August 8th, come to the Kitty Hawk Kite store in Nags Head (mile post 12.5) for a big outdoor summer bash with a homegrown backyard feel. It is one of the most unique festivals on the Outer Banks! We'll have tons of fun activities for kids and parents like: the dunk tank, moon bounce, inflatable obstacle course, watermelon seed spitting distance contests, pie eating contests, face painting, and of course, tons of watermelon! Kitty Hawk Kites staff will be on site teaching kids how to use juggling sticks, balance boards, and letting them try out all of our top selling toys. We'll also have great music, food vendors on site, and one of the best raffles on the beach!

The EVP Beach Volleyball Tour Stops on the Outer Banks! Extreme Volleyball Professionals (EVP), a premier national circuit, announces the addition of the OBX to its high profile EVP Tour 2013 schedule. The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau and Jennette's Pier are partnering with EVP Tour to host two days of competitive beach volleyball in the town of Nags Head.
The EVP Beach Volleyball Tour's primary aim is to support beach volleyball events that engage families, fans, athletes, students, communities and sponsors in a great day at the beach. At each event, spectators will not only see elite athletes compete on the sand for top honors, they also have the chance to interact with the pros by participating in contests and promotions at hosting venues.

The 30th Anniversary Commemoration of the Christening and Launching of the Elizabeth II will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013.The ship was constructed in the early 1980's to commemorate America's 400th anniversary. Shipbuilders used the designs of vessels from 1585 to build the Elizabeth II. It was constructed on the Manteo waterfront by a team of builders, lead by Mr. O. Lie-Nielson and was moved to what is now known as Roanoke Island Festival Park where it is the star attraction. The Town of Duck, in cooperation with our local business community, announces the 2nd Annual "Duck Yuletide Celebration". Join us Friday and Saturday, November 30, and December 1, 2012 for a Town-wide celebration of Yuletide Cheer.
On Friday, Duck merchants will keep their doors open late for shoppers. On Saturday,the Town of Duck will hold its Yuletide Celebration on the Duck Town Green, 1200 Duck Road, beginning at 3:00 p.m., with Santa arriving on a fire truck. Teach's Lair Marina
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will be open for a unique Winter Climb. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on December 8. Free. Sunday, the Hatteras Village Association will sponsor the annual Hatteras Village Christmas parade. The parade will begin at Teach's Lair Marina at 2 p.m. The parade route continues through the village and ends at the Hatterasman Drive-In. Everyone is invited to the Civic Center after the parade for home-baked cookies and hot chocolate and to hear the announcement of the parade winners.
