The Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts has a mission to promote the appreciation of and involvement in the performing arts. To accomplish this goal, a series of concerts are performed by diverse artists throughout the year. Performances are held at the First Flight High School Auditorium in Kill Devil Hills. This project is sponsored by grants from the North Carolina Arts Council, the Dare County Arts Concil, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Southern Arts Federation.

This non profit organization is Dare County's only resident professional theatricial company. They are located at the Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
Elizabeth R and Company's cental production is ''Elizabeth R,'' the international hit one-woman show about England's Queen Elizabeth I. ''Elizabeth R'' plays during the summer at the Elizabethan Gardens and has received rave reviews locally and internationally.
The funny and fast paced musical 'Bloody Mary and the Virgin Queen' is another very popular production that is now in its eleventh season.
