Sunday, October 25, 2015: 10/25 Hatteras Weekend Update

Been running some trips out of Ocracoke to avoid any further damage due to our shallow access to Hatteras Inlet.

Fished Friday, no trolling action but good bottom fishing. Saturday was choppy but caught yellowfin and blackfin tuna. Today was excellent dolphin and wahoo fishing.

Saturday, October 17, 2015: 10/17 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

I decided to roll the dice to the south today. Things were pretty slow, but we got lucky.

We were fortunate to have some sailfish action. Yvonne landed one, we pulled off a second one and missed a third. We missed our only wahoo bite. Fortunately my ol' buddy Spurgeon spotted a tree floating and called me to it. It was loaded with bailers and we made our day! Further to the east the guys had some fair blackfin action and maybe a couple of yellowfins too. Thanks again Brian!

Friday, October 16, 2015: 10/16 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

We enjoyed more nice weather and great fishing again today!

The marina called me last night with a make up charter for today. It worked out great for everybody. They wound up with a great catch of tuna and dolphin, and I got to spend another nice October day in the gulf stream. Thanks guys.

Thursday, October 15, 2015: 10/15 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

My ol' buddy Robert showed up with the gang for another great day offshore!

Most of the fleet went south this morning, and as I wandered off to the east I knew that it could be a "hero or zero" kind of deal for me. Fortunately we found a lot of life, birds and fish. WE scrapped out a nice catch of blackfin tuna, one yellowfin and a handful of dolphin. Thanks again Robert, enjoy the fish!

Monday, October 12, 2015: 10/12 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

Fortunately the northeast winds and thunderstorms dissipated and the day turned out to be quite nice.

There was a report of some good yellowfin action in the deep yesterday, so I was anxious to go look around. Unfortunately there was no sign of life out there today. While I was offshore roaming around most of the other guys were back on the break catching wahoos. We worked back in and landed two out of five wahoos to go with a citation blackfin and a handful of dolphin. Thanks for a great day Greg!

Saturday, October 10, 2015: 10/10 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

Most of the day was pretty nice, but by this afternoon the wind had breezed up out of the northeast 20-25.

Fishing was good again today. We wound up with another nice catch of dolphin, bailers and gaffers. There were a few wahoo bites further south. Thanks Joe for bringing the guys for a great trip offshore!

Friday, October 9, 2015: 10/9 Hatteras Offshore Fishing Report

It was nice to get back out after all the bad weather for the past week!

Today dolphin fishing was pretty good, gaffers and bailers. We found a lot more fish than we caught, but even though they weren't the most cooperative, we still did good. I attribute our success to the "finally oiled machine". Thanks guys!

Wednesday, September 30, 2015: Finally!

After a two week vacation (not really, just sat around and watched it rain and blow), we finally made it back out.

Dolphin fishing was good today, and even though we didn't have any wahoo action, there were a few caught. Now we are looking forward to dealing with a major weather event this weekend. Thanks Steve!

Tuesday, September 15, 2015: Big Daddy

My ol buddy Dwayne showed up with Glenn for another September adventure.

Things were a little scrappy overall, but we were blessed with a little bit of action throughout the day. Out in the deep, the yellowfins found us again and we managed to land three. We picked at a couple different schools of dolphin till we had thirty, and Glenn topped everything off with a sailfish release. Thanks for another great trip Big Daddy!

Monday, September 14, 2015: 9/14 Hatteras Offshore Update

Please forgive the absence of reports, I have had some computer issues that have just been resolved.

I will post a picture for each report that I missed, but fishing overall has been pretty good. Plenty of dolphin and wahoo, although they were not as abundant today. We did stumble on some birds out in the deep and got our first yellowfin "wham" of the fall. We landed four and a bonito out of seven bites, to go with a handful of dolphin. Thanks Codgers!
